The Champion of Peace and a Survivor of Polio dies at 90
As Rotarians, we salute Desmond Tuto and his life of tenacity, courage and constancy.
Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, giant in fight against apartheid South Africa, dies at 90.
The Nobel laureate died on December 26, 2021 in Cape Town, South Africa. Tutu was described by foreign observers and people in his country as the moral conscience of his nation!
He was also a polio survivor, a champion for peace, and a strong supporter in our global efforts to #EndPolio
I met with him a number of years ago in his home in Cape Town, South Africa πΏπ¦ I was able to personally thank him for his dedication and support to help forward our worldwide end polio efforts!
He was so kind and even ensured I had maple syrup for my tea because he knew I was visiting him from Canada π¨π¦ π
May the champion of Peace, Rest In Peace
