Another District Grant completed

Ken Kelly, District Foundation Chair —

The project was utilised as an Inter-club project: Rotarians working together (Mackay North and Mackay West Clubs).

The work undertaken was completed at Carinya Care Inc – a not-for profit organization catering for people in the community in need of emergency accommodation.

The 8 tenants residing in the villages of 8 cottages were direct benefactors. 4 Carinya Care Committee members who often undertake cottage maintenance, appreciated the work completed. This accommodation with an improved standard of accommodation, enables residents to reside in the cottages and not be the subject of homelessness.

Rotarians cleaned and painted rooms, removed old fridges and cupboards, cleaned under buildings, repaired glass louvres, replaced glass in casement windows, repaired walls.

Plumbing included replacing shower taps, roses, basin connections; installing sinks and water connections, running new water pipes for new connections. Installing a grease trap for waste water.

Electrical work entailed installation of power points, lights, isolation switches, stoves and associated conduit.
