ROTARY APPEAL FOR CYCLONE YASA – FIJI URGENT REQUEST FOR DONATIONS OF CASH

Four other Donation options are detailed on www.rnzwcs.org Project/Activity Details Rotary New Zealand is appealing for funds to support its Neighbours in Fiji following the devastation from Cyclone Yasa. 

Rotary Emergency Response Kits prepositioned at three locations in Fiji will be dispatched to affected areas for distribution to families who will receive additional relief supplies as coordinated by the Fiji Disaster Management office. 

Rotary is collaborating with the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs Emergency Task Force and the Fiji Disaster Management Office to ensure that the Emergency Response Kits and other supplies are directed for best possible advantage to those affected. Rotary Fiji and supporters providing logistical support. 

The appeal funds will be used for Emergency Response Kits and other relief supplies, but may also support schools and their teachers rebuild, support families rebuild their homes and re-establish their vegetable gardens in addition to health and education issues. NZ Govt. Media Release New Zealand provides support to Fiji following Cyclone Yasa New Zealand is providing an initial package of support to Fiji as it assesses the damage from severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa, including a P3 Orion aerial surveillance flight, Foreign Minister Hon Nanaia Mahuta has announced. 

“Our thoughts are with the people of Fiji who have been affected by this devastating cyclone. We are providing support to the Government of Fiji as it identifies and responds to emergency needs,” Nanaia Mahuta said. “Our initial support includes sending a RNZAF P-3 Orion to conduct flights to help assess damage, including in remote areas. “We are releasing emergency relief kits pre-positioned in Fiji in partnership with Rotary New Zealand, and are making funding available to the New Zealand High Commission to respond to needs on the ground as requested by Fiji. “New Zealand is also funding a technical adviser to the Fiji National Disaster Management Office, which is leading the response".
