ONE AND ALL

Rtn David Binks —

Advancing Leadership on the High Seas

Article by Rtn David Binks

What a great opportunity Rotary is creating for the youth in South Australia who face “personal challenges” with this unique experience which is focused on building teamwork skills. Creating lifelong friendships and skills in an encouraging and unique environment.

Youth Sailing on the One and All is a District 9510 Youth Leadership program, founded in 2018 by South Australian Rotarian and boat builder David Binks which has since become the Rotary District 9510 fastest growing youth program and is now one of its largest.

Aimed at developing leadership and teamwork skills in 15–18-year-olds, the young participants board the tall ship One and All for five-day training voyagers on the open seas. Over the past 12 months, more than $60,000 has been raised through Rotary Clubs, corporate sponsors and profits from David’s book “Casting Off Tradition”. Forty-two students sailed on voyages run in the September and April School holidays.
