Through the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), Rotary works with its partners to eradicate polio and to end the suffering from this terrible disease. World Polio Day (October 24) provides an opportunity for Rotary members to highlight our Number One priority - to create a polio-free world.

How will your club mark the occasion? Here are a few suggestions:

  • Join one of the multi district fundraising events such as train rides, walks, cycling events.
  • Join the walk at the Zone 8 Convention on October 30: #walkwithus Polio Walk - Rotary Zone 8 Conference
  • Plan your own local event that engages the local community.
  • Encourage friends, family, work colleagues to donate to Rotary’s PolioPlus Fund. Donate to End Polio | End Polio
  • Dedicate a club meeting to World Polio Day. Invite a guest speaker who is a polio survivor or screen videos about Rotary’s fight against polio. Post the details about this special meeting on your club website and social media.
  • Host a virtual viewing party for friends and club members to watch the official Rotary International Online Global Update on 24 October. Visit the Rotary International | Facebook page to watch with other end polio supporters.
  • Download End Polio Now virtual backgrounds from Rotary’s Brand Centre to customize your online meetings. Virtual backgrounds - End Polio
  • Don’t forget to tell us how you’re observing World Polio Day! Register your club’s participation to tell us how you’re engaging with the global Rotary community. Register Your Event | End Polio

World Polio Day is only a few weeks away. If you haven’t done so already, please discuss with your fellow club members what you can do to highlight our number one priority. More information: World Polio Day | End Polio
