Rotarians give of their time, their talent and their treasure depending on their personal circumstances. The Rotary Foundation is their charity of choice because they know that more good can be done in the world through their giving.

The Rotary Foundation ticks all the right boxes and Rotarians (and non-Rotarians) know that The Rotary Foundation is right up there with the best of the best charities, with low overheads and the highest accountability and governance. Unlike most other charities, donors know how their money is being spent.

All gifts to The Rotary Foundation are greatly appreciated but annually at the Zone Conference, The Rotary Foundation particularly recognises those who are Major Donors and/or Bequest Society Members. Major Donors have donated at least US $10,000 to The Rotary Foundation and Bequest Society Members have bequeathed the same amount to The Rotary Foundation.

Like last year, the 2021 Zone Conference was a virtual event so all Major Donors and Bequest Society Members could be invited to a virtual recognition function to thank them and acknowledge their giving. Their generosity is hugely valued and greatly appreciated, as is all giving.

Foundation Trustee and Past RI Director Larry Lunsford

The Recognition Function was hosted by Foundation Trustee and past RI Director Larry Lunsford, who joined us from Kansas City, USA to provide an update on The Rotary Foundation. Larry has a special connection to Australia as a former Ambassadorial Scholar, studying at the University of Newcastle. He was introduced by Past Rotary International President and Chairman Elect of The Rotary Foundation, Ian Riseley. Larry demonstrated comprehensively why he is a Trustee of The Foundation.

Ian and Larry also engaged in a lively Q&A session, followed by formal recognition of all those joining or moving to a higher Major Donor or Bequest Society level since the previous function. A highlight was live crosses to 2 new Arch Klumph Society (AKS) Members and one moving to a higher level and a new Legacy Society Member. All four Rotarians impressed with their humility and their commitment to The Rotary Foundation to do good in the world. Readers who attended the recognition will understand the relevance of “When Larry met Garry".

While most Rotarians do not have the resources to attain AKS level every dollar makes a difference and there is no better option for your charity dollar than our charity, The Rotary Foundation.
