LOTS OF POSSIBILITIES

PP Tony Heyward, Assistant Rotary Coordinator —

Have you ever noticed how at times it’s easier to believe the negative things you hear, rather than the positives?

Article by PP Tony Heyward, Assistant Rotary Coordinator

Lately, I have been hearing that we need to have a “mindset” change for Rotary to grow and prosper for the future. I tend to agree. It is important to work on “mindset”. On reflection, I think this can help us see the huge opportunities to support Rotary’s growth strategy, by starting new style Clubs. Have you ever noticed how at times it’s easier to believe the negative things you hear, rather than the positives?

In today’s ever-changing world, we seem to be more critical, looking for what’s wrong rather than seeing what’s right. If you want to talk to people who are always positive, speak to a young child. The time has come, we believe, to urgently focus on the growth and development of new Clubs in our Zone 8, that are “purpose driven” or as some say, “cause driven”.

We need to get the flip charts out and look for the possibilities around us. If your Rotary Club or District has a culture of possibilities, you will be amazed at the opportunities coming your way that have been missed by our competitors.

The world has changed, Rotary International too is changing in our part of the world to keep up with this pace. John Hewko, our General Secretary and CEO of Rotary International, has recently reminded us that Rotary’s biggest internal priority is – Growing Rotary Membership!! This should be our No 1 Goal for every Club President and every District Governor.

To focus on the urgent need to grow our Rotary Zone 8 membership and clubs, together with our Zone 8 New Style Club Specialist Assistant Rotary Coordinator PDG Andy Rajapakse and I are forming a team of New Style Club Specialists.

This proposed team of 12 with their hands on expertise will motivate our Districts, Clubs and Rotary Members in Zone 8 to start new style Rotary clubs. PDG Andy with his experience and expertise in forming the largest number of new style Rotary clubs in Australia will coach our team to be the best of the best New Style Club Specialists.
