The City of Mandurah, Western Australia, light the Mandurah Bridge each evening with a different colour from 10 minutes before sunset to sunrise. The bridge is illuminated every night with the air of enhancing Mandurah’s visual appearance and sense of community using the lighting to help approved charitable and not for profit organisations raise awareness of significant events or appeals. It helps groups showcase their cause.

Thank you to the City for the support of Rotary by agreeing for the lights to be displayed in bright purple on 24 October. The colour purple signifying the colour dye used on the little finger of a child who has received the polio drops.

ONE DAY. ONE FOCUS, ENDING POLIO.

So the community are aware of why the bridge is a particular colour, the City of Mandurah promote it on their social media platforms, the local radio station also speaks about it during their community segments. The Satellite of Rockingham Rotary Club members have shared the event on many social media platforms.

Local Rotarians, friends & family attended the bridge on the night to view it all lit up in its glory. Members took a few pictures and shared some fellowship over a beverage. It really was spectacular and, being well placed in the centre of town, a large number of the community see it.

The mission of the End Polio Now campaign is to increase awareness, advocate and raise funds to enable us to fulfil the promise that Rotary has made to the world. WE WILL ERADICATE POLIO FOREVER. I believe we have helped that cause tonight!

End Polio Now

Early in the bridge inception of the lights Marg also had the City display the Rotary blue & gold colours to promote Rotary in our community. Rotarians, friends and family gathered at a ‘local bar’ for photos and much fellowship.

Thank you to the City of Mandurah for the support of Rotary in our community.
