MEMBERSHIP RESOURCE OF THE MONTH
Club membership committees help create a welcoming, engaging experience for prospective and current members as well create membership development plans. Use the updated Club membership committee checklist to guide your activities.
Submitted by Barbara Mifsud, Regional Membership Officer, RI staff
The role of the club membership committee is to help ensure your club is providing a welcoming, engaging and fun experience for current and prospective members and to create a club membership plan that includes intentional, concrete actions to reach this goal.
Depending on the size of your club, your membership committee should ideally have five or more members to help implement your plan.
Successful committees include diverse perspectives, reflect your members and community, and have staggered terms to allow for continuity from one year to the next. Whether you’re in a Rotary or Rotaract club, the activities on the checklist can help guide your club’s membership plan.
The checklist outlines suggested activities in four areas:
- identifying prospective members
- introducing prospective members to your club
- welcoming new members
- engaging your members
The checklist has been updated to incorporate some of the findings of the latest research on club experience and to make it more relevant to Rotaract clubs.
