The UN is reporting at least 12 million people have fled their homes in Ukraine because of the war, including more than 5 million people - mostly women, children and elderly people, who have fled Ukraine for neighbouring countries. An estimated 7 million people are thought to be displaced inside Ukraine. All are in dire need of emergency aid.

As previously reported, thanks to the generosity of donors around the world, Rotary raised more than $15 million in contributions. These are already helping provide people with essential items such as water, food, shelter, medicine, and clothing.

So far, 249 disaster response grants, totalling $8.0million in 29 countries, have been awarded to support people affected by the war. The Rotary Foundation will continue to use the donations for humanitarian aid in and around Ukraine, and districts can apply for these grants until 31 December 2022.

Designated Rotary Districts that border Ukraine and the Rotary District in Ukraine may apply for grants of up to $100,000 each from the Disaster Response Fund. These expedited disaster response grants can be used to provide relief to refugees or other victims of the war in Ukraine such as water, food, shelter, medicine, and clothing.

Other Rotary districts that wish to offer support to refugees or other victims of the war in Ukraine can apply for $25,000 grants from the Disaster Response Fund. Districts in Australia and New Zealand can apply for these funds to support and assist Ukrainian refugees arriving in their District.
