April was a more positive month for the Zone. We moved from a net loss of 127 members last month to a net loss of 66. This was tied to the chartering of two Rotary clubs: RC of Upper Richmond (D9640) and RC of Activate Victoria (D9800).

We also welcomed the RC of Lightsview in D9510, whose membership gains will be captured this coming month. This is the first Rotary club in that district in seven years.

The RC of Upper Richmond was a satellite club that transformed into a Rotary club after 4 months.

The RC of Activate Victoria is the culmination of DG Amanda Wendt’s strategy for the year in D9800. The strategy included searching for existing club projects that would appeal to prospective members, having a monthly volunteering opportunity available, club capacity building, targeted marketing, then creating a new style club that is project/hands on based. 10 out of the 23 members came through the membership leads platform.

We have chartered 7 Rotary clubs this year but have terminated 14. Traditionally we see clubs handing back their charters at the end of the year, so anticipate more club losses.

With regards to Rotaract, we are +24 members since 1 July. We’ve officially recognised 2 new Rotaract clubs this year but have a net loss of 3 clubs.
