February saw the chartering of two new Rotary clubs: Rotary Club of Mangawhai (D9910, parts of New Zealand and Pacific Islands) and the Rotary Club of The Hive Australia (D9790, parts of NSW and Victoria).

RC of Mangawhai started as a satellite club 18 months ago and decided to charter in its own right, while the RC of The Hive Australia, took a more traditional root to chartering. Congratulations to both of these clubs.

New club development helps us expand our reach and is an essential part of any district’s membership development plan.

We know from the research that regions where membership is growing are also where new clubs are being established.

An estimated 88% of new club members, are new to Rotary, which puts an end to the myth that new clubs lead to ‘poaching’ members. If anything, they may save members who were planning on leaving anyway.

So far this year we have chartered 4 Rotary clubs and 4 Rotaract clubs and officially recognised 4 satellite clubs.

D9620 has the trifecta having established 1 Rotary, 1 Rotaract and 1 satellite club. D9790 has established 1 Rotary and 1 Rotaract club and D9640 has established 2 satellite clubs.

D9660 moves into top place on the membership leader board with +25 since 1 July 2022.

D9920 and D9620 move into equal second place with +21 each.

Highlights from our Zone include:

  • Highest % net growth: D9920 (1.76%)
  • Highest % of female members: D9640 (37.99%)
  • Highest % of members under 40: D9640 (9.31%)
  • Highest % of clubs with membership goals: D9910 (97.37%)
  • Highest no. of membership leads admitted to Rotary: D9620 (3) and D9675 (3)
