BALWYN ROTARY CENTENNIAL GRANTS

Australian Rotary clubs looking for project funding, can consider applying for a grant from the Balwyn Rotary Centenary Grants program.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rotary in Australia and NZ, the RC of Balwyn has pledged $1,000,000 over the next 5 years to other Rotary Clubs in Australia to assist them with their community projects. Grants of between $10,000 and $50,000 are being awarded.

The RC of Balwyn’s iconic Camberwell Sunday Market is a great hands-on community service project undertaken by Balwyn Rotarians. After 46 years of operating the Market has enabled them to raise over $20 million. To date $6.596 million has been donated to projects within the City of Boroondara, $3.722m to other community projects, $3.170m to youth projects, $3.770m to International projects, $1.587m for medical research and equipment and $1.403m assisting other Rotary Clubs.

Recent successful Grant applicants include:

  • The Rotary Club of Prahran Vic. $25,000 enabled their Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network to purchase a second- hand van which will increase the Network’s efficiency dramatically. This project replicates the existing the Rotary run emergency networks in the East and West of Melbourne by filling the Central Melbourne gap in the middle.
  • The Rotary Clubs of Launceston Central and South Launceston. A combined application to fund two water bores in the Tarime district of Northern Tanzania which will be the catalyst to enable another 18 bores to be built. When completed drinking water will be available to villages of 2000 -5000 people.
