Alex Silva is a Brazilian Rotarian living in Australia, who is a member of Public Image teams in Brazil and Zone 8 (New Zealand, Australia and Oceania). He is member of the Rotary Club of Suzano, from the city where he grew up, near Sao Paulo, Brazil and holds positions on the District’s Governor Committee as Assistant District Public Image Coordinator for Group 7 since 2020. In Australia, he has been regularly visiting the Moreland and Coburg Rotary Clubs, both in Melbourne, District 9790, and just started to contribute to the Zone 8 Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinators team.

Alex began his journey as a member of Rotaract in 2009, where he remained for ten years. He held various positions, including Club President, District Sergeant-at-Arms, District Project Director and was elected to lead and manage the clubs as a District Rotaract Representative (DRR) for 2017-18. He organised events, such as Sao Paulo Rotaract Clubs Fellowship Meeting in 2010 and 2017, the Rotaract Clubs District Assembly in 2012 and 2015 and also volunteered during the RICON in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In Rotaract, he has always focused on training his club and district members year after year and promoted opportunities to carry out better and more impactful projects.

As a DRR he organised discussion forums, encouraged events in the RYLA format, structured a project training and mentoring team and negotiated with the District Governor to make grants available for Rotaract Clubs in a similar way of those for Rotary Clubs, all before Elevate Rotaract became a reality. He received twice the Paul Harris Fellow recognition in 2017 and 2022.

In Rotary, Alex began as a Club Secretary to become later the Club Public Image Coordinator. As also a member of his District Public Image team, he gave speeches and trained many Rotarians, promoting the use of My Rotary tools, helping clubs to develop more efficient and impactful projects. During last year, he was on the Sergeant-at-Arms team for the 45th Brazil Rotary Institute, attended the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) program, coordinated the foundation of the Rotary Club Satellite of Suzano Baruel and worked along with the team that developed the 2022-26 District 4563 Strategic Plan.

Now, while he lives in Australia and studies Project Management, Alex seeks to keep up with his activities in Rotary. By holding roles in the Public Image teams of these different countries, he intends to share his experiences and learnings with them all, connecting Brazil with the countries of Zone 8 and contributing to the growth of Rotary and the achievement of its objectives.
