Membership growth is the engine that powers the vehicle of Rotary. Growth of our members is important because new ideas and new interests reinvigorate the club, bringing in new energy and future leaders.

The asset of each Rotary Club is its members. Who is responsible for Membership Growth? The answer to this question from Rotary International is “Every Rotarian”.

What are the benefits?

Becoming a Rotary member connects you with a diverse group of professionals who share your drive to give back. Through regular meetings and events, you will:

  • Discuss your community’s needs and develop creative ways to meet them
  • Connect with other leaders who are changing the world
  • Expand your leadership and professional skills
  • Catch up with good friends and meet new ones

Other benefits of membership include:

The Rotary International Convention is our biggest event of the year. Rotary members from more than 130 countries meet at the convention each year to celebrate our successes and make plans for the future.

Rotary Fellowships give members the chance to join a group of people who share similar interests, hobbies, or vocations. Some groups use their fellowship to make a positive difference.

Rotarian Action Groups unite Rotary members, family members, program participants and alumni who share their expertise in particular fields by collaborating with clubs and districts on projects.

Is your club appealing to the demographic you want to attract to your club? If not, can you make changes that will attract these people? If the answer is NO! You can start a new style club or Satellite club to accommodate these people we are missing from our Rotary Family. Good thing is there is help to do this available. We have a team of experienced Assistant Rotary Coordinators (ARCs) including our Specialist New Style Club ARC Andy Rajapakse and our wonderful Regional Membership Officer in Barbara Mifsud to help get you started. Along with your ARC, they will be only too happy to assist you with any enquiries.

Last week I had the pleasure via Rotary Membership voice, hearing from Past President Candice Olivier about the story of the creation and ongoing success of the Gold Coast Passport Rotary Club, The club seeks to create a community of driven young professionals, to create great outcomes both for the club, but individually for the members as well. Ideal candidates include the likes of young entrepreneurs, freelancers and digital nomads with the group’s delivery is designed with this modern volunteer in mind.

The Club’s Mission: "our mission is to future proof Rotary by attracting young innovative changemakers via networking and technology to collaborate, share skills and learn alongside our Rotarian family to actively give back to our local and global community".

Can you imagine the feeling of helping to establish a New Style Rotary Club like this?

The Future of Rotary is in your hands …. Share the gift of Rotary, invite a friend.
