As volunteers we sometimes are invited out of our comfort zones… literally. Well, I have been.
Article by PDG Bronwyn Stephens, Endowment / Major Gifts Adviser
Raising major funds for Rotary’s charity, the Rotary Foundation is vital for critical programs such as individuals’, clubs’ and through to world scale projects, peace projects, End Polio and even responses to disasters.
This is the focus of my attention for the next 3 years. My role is across the whole of the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia to encourage major donor giving and bequests.
As so many amazing Rotarian mentors have over the years guided me and a dear friend Kat John says “say yes and then figure out the how”.
Well, over the last two days Rotarians have so generously given their expert knowledge and time to prepare me for the role. Mark Anderson, RI Regional Office Support in Sydney and Senior Fund Development Officer, PDG Dennis Shore who is stepping down from the Endowment and Major Gifts Advisor role and Ian Riseley, Chair, the Board of Trustees The Rotary Foundation 2019-23 and RI President 2017-18, all worked together to relax me ahead of this adventure.
It would be a privilege to meet Rotarians who have an interest in knowing more about this very important way of contributing to Rotary’s charity – The Rotary Foundation.
Speaking at a seminar or Rotary Foundation event in your District would also be my pleasure. Please feel free to contact me at BStephens.firstname.lastname@example.org
