Te Akitu House

Wayne Boynton-Rata, Captain of Te Akitu House

Kia ora koutou,

An impressive showing from Te Akitu for the start of the first term. Great turnouts with our weekly attendance, winning highest in weeks 4, 7, 8, and 10 aiming to keep this running into term 2.

In regards to the House Competition I thought we had an outstanding turn out at Tabloids with a number of our student leaders stepping up. Waahanga Te Ranginui-Downes, Wepiha Webster, Josh McEntee and Zeon Hetherington were all outstanding supporting the boys for the afternoon. However despite our best efforts we still ended up 4th. While this was disappointing, we hold high hopes for the Kapa Haka and Basketball event coming up in term 2. I know deep down the boys put in a good showing and I was proud of every member of our house.

We then moved to Inter-house Football and I was pleased with the efforts our boys put in both in the Senior and Junior Football Comps. We came first in the Senior Competition with outstanding efforts from Lucas Green and Olly Atkinson. We didn’t quite get the win in the junior section but we showed promise and have some good keen young footballers in there who I am sure will step up in the future.

We look forward to the next events and I can’t wait to see what the boys can achieve next term.
