A Busy Term Ahead
Term 2 has kicked off! Our boys have hit the ground running as they prepare for a busy term. In Week 2, Paul Apanui , Taiaho Huia, and Matiaha Renati Tahuri represented the kura at the Te Arawa Manu Kōrero Regional Competition to try compete for a spot at the National competition, followed by a small group of boys who will take the stage at the Super 8 Kapa Haka Competition in Week 4. Both haka teams are also hard at work preparing for the Te Arawa Kapa Haka Regionals in Week 8. It's shaping up to be a jam packed term. Kia kaha tama mā!
New Faces in the Whare
We’re excited to welcome two new members to our team:
Tūwharetoa Hapi has been appointed as Tumuaki Tuarua - Āheinga Ahurea. A proud old boy of the kura, he returns with a wealth of experience from his time as Deputy Principal at Aquinas College. His deep connection to our school and his leadership as a former prefect will no doubt enrich our whare and inspire our tauira.
Hinenui Webb also joins Te Whare o Raukura, bringing her knowledge and experience. We’re looking forward to learning alongside her.
Kapa Haka
The Te Arawa Kapa Haka Regional Competition is set for Thursday, 19 June. Raukura Kapa Haka are already deep into preparations, and there’s still an opportunity for boys to join Te Aitanga a Tāne to earn a place in the team and perform alongside their peers. It’s been awesome to see the passion and excitement among the boys keen to be part of this kaupapa.
Ngā manaakitanga,
