H. Kershaw, Head of House

Kia ora koutou katoa,

Utuhina house is looking to start the year off strong as we narrowly got pipped at the line last year coming in 2nd place overall. Our goal for this year was to target the big 3 events, Tabloids, House Haka comp and the House Choral competition. In term 1 we have one of the big 3 events which is tabloids. Due to low numbers we missed out on this event coming in 3rd place.

Utuhina house is lucky to have a large prefect cohort and we will definitely be looking for their leadership and encouragement for the upcoming house events this year. Our Prefects are Oscar Gibson (Head of House) Jake Hutchings, Matiu Mear, Dean Richardson, Hunter Weaver, Max Manukonga and Peter Austin

Inter House football also featured in Term 1. Utuhina house came 2nd in the senior event with outstanding performances from Jaime Peterson, Riley Kusabs and Finley Gibson. Our Junior inter house football team won the event with outstanding performances from Denzel Baleinuku, Jude Goodgame and Alan Twiddy. 

Attendance is another area as a house we are trying to improve in. As of week 10 we are currently sitting in 3rd place 81.57% attendance. An area to improve in here but no doubt Utuhina will come back next term.

Utuhina House is looking forward to the challenges that face us this year. As a house group we aim to encourage one another to participate in all house activities and help promote the Raukura spirit throughout the Kura.
