Academic Progress & NCEA
N. Notha, Deputy Principal Teaching and Learning, Tumuaki Tuarua - Whakaako & Ako
E mihi ana ki a koutou katoa, e te whānau o Raukura.
It is hard to believe that we are at the end of our first term!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting our Academic Review Day and our Year 10 - 13 Parent - Subject Teacher Conferences. These opportunities to meet kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face) strengthen the home- school partnership considerably.
Our Year 9 Parent - Subject Teacher Conferences have been scheduled for Tuesday 13 May. We will share more details closer to the time.
Academic Progress.
We have now had four cycles of our Fortnightly Reports and these reports should be highlighting your son’s strengths and work ons. We encourage you to use the hyperlinked teacher email addresses to contact subject teachers to discuss any concerns that you may have after each round of reporting.
NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite.
All NCEA subjects use literacy and numeracy and our students need to show that they have the foundational reading, writing and numeracy skills to gain an NCEA qualification. This is also known as the NCEA co-requisite. In 2025, our students will have 2 opportunities to gain the co-requisites. These assessment opportunities are known as Common Assessment Activities (CAA) and students are entered by their English and Maths teachers when they display readiness. This can happen from as early as Year 9 but the majority of students will be entered during Year 10 and 11.
Our English and Maths teachers will contact you directly to let you know that your student is ready to sit the Common Assessment Activity. Those students who have been entered for the first assessment event will have been notified before the end of term. Letters will be sent home to whānau by the beginning of Term 2.
The first round of Common Assessment Activities will take place from Monday 19 May 2025 - Friday 30 May 2025.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Ngā mihi nui.
