Pūtaiao is underway in 2025
We’re pleased to welcome Miss Karen Asquith to the Science team this year. We also look forward to Mrs Sarah Longdill’s return in 2025, where she will be teaching part-time while completing her studies.
The department staff recently took part in a PLD and team-building weekend at Waiotapu Forest Camp, exploring the locations used for our Year 9 and 10 camps. This gave us valuable insight into how we can incorporate more hands-on Science learning into future excursions, making these trips even more engaging for our students.
Our senior Science programs are expanding, with the addition of Level 2 Agriculture/Horticulture and Applied Sciences courses, providing more diverse learning opportunities and career pathways for our boys. We’re also seeing increased interest in Biology, with more students enrolling in the subject for 2025.
Meanwhile, our Year 9 students have been making full use of the microscopes during their Plants and Water unit, showing great enthusiasm as they explore the microscopic world. It’s fantastic to see them so engaged in practical learning early on.
With exciting changes and continued growth, 2025 is shaping up to be a great year for Science at RBHS!
