Tēnā koutou e te whānau o Raukura

Welcome back to a new school year! We are excited to see both familiar faces and new ones as we embark on another year of learning, growth, and achievement in English. A special welcome to our new teachers, Mrs. Lisa Vos, Mr. Dewald Rode, and Mr. Tarquin Teddy—we are delighted to have you join our team. 

A huge congratulations to all our senior students who endorsed English in 2024 with Excellence and Merit—your hard work and dedication have truly paid off. This year, we encourage all students to set high goals, attend regularly, and put in consistent effort—success in English is within reach for those who strive for it.

Already, some exciting things are happening in our faculty. Students are engaging in our Sustained Silent Reading challenge, enjoying 15 minutes of reading for pleasure each day. Our Year 9s have followed recipes to make pikelets, sharing kai as part of whakawhanaungatanga. 

Starting in Week 7, we will offer afternoon learning support at Te Honoatoi for any student needing extra help.

We look forward to a fantastic year ahead of exploring the power of language through reading, writing, and critical thinking—let’s make it one of curiosity, creativity, and success. All the best for the term!
