Welcome back to Music and the Performing Arts for 2025. We have an exciting and action packed year planned and can’t wait to showcase all of the awesome talent with our school community.

This year we welcome our new Guitar Teacher - Mr Jack Isaac who is an old boy of the school who has been living in Auckland for a number of years. We look forward to Mr Isaac making an impact on our guitar students.

This year is our first full year in our new faculty buildings in S Block and it is clear that the boys are really  enjoying the new facilities. “The Cave” performance room is proving to be a hit with the band students. We hope to host performance evenings there in the near future so some of our whānau can see this awesome space.

Our first big event for 2025 has been our Choir Camp at Waiotapu school camp. We had 36 boys out there working hard on their vocal skills and preparing for a number of big events that we have this year. The first performance is at “Rotorua Lakeside” with a combined RBHS and RGHS Choir. We are sure it will be a fantastic occasion.

Congratulations to the following boys who were part of the recent Opera in the Pa event which was held at the Sir Howard Morrison Centre - Toby James Thomas Fisher, Adrian Hurihanganui, Harry Tamblyn, Rihari Walden, Katina Ioane and Zeon Hetherington. Old boys Arana Ashby and Natheil Pirika also performed which was great to see two old boys doing well with their Music careers, in particular following their dreams of being an opera singer.

We look forward to sharing more exciting reports on upcoming events in the near future.
