International Students

Welcome to the new and returning International Students for 2025! This year, we are delighted to have 19 International Students from around the world experiencing our great school, ranging from Year 9 to Year 13. 

We warmly welcome 10 new students from Japan, Fiji, Tonga and India. Meanwhile, the 9 returning students are reconnecting with friends and settling back into New Zealand school life.

Jonah Lomu Scholarship

This year, the recipient for the Jonah Lomu Scholarship is Year 11 student Waisale Domonakibau Mekemeke from Fiji. Waisale is deeply passionate about rugby and has aspirations of continuing his education at university after he graduates from Raukura. Furthermore, Waisale’s mother went to school with Jonah at Wesley College.

Visiting School Groups

This term, we look forward to welcoming the Shiba High School group for their 24th visit from Monday, 24 March to Thursday, 3rd April. Additionally, in Term 3, we will host the Shotoku Gakuen Junior & Senior High School group for their first visit from Wednesday, 16th July to Thursday, 24 July. The Shotoku AP-Mr Iwasaki is an old boy of our school and one of our very first International Fee Paying Students.

HOMESTAY WANTED

The Shotoku Gakuen Junior & Senior High School group from Japan will be visiting us for the first time this year, from Wednesday, 16th July – Thursday, 24th July 2025 (8 nights).  We are looking for families who would like to host these young boys as paid homestay providers. The students, aged 15-16 years old, are eager to experience a Kiwi home and lifestyle. Shotoku Gakuen Junior & Senior High School is a multi-storied school in Tokyo, making our school and way of life a completely different experience for them. This culture exchange has been highly successful, with students returning to Japan with fond memories of their time with their New Zealand families.
