Kay Asplin —

Below is an introduction of our new staff who have joined us this year

Stacey Birch

Born in South Africa, raised in Rotorua and returning to Rautāwhiri on the other side of the line. I have three  beautiful children who keep me very busy. We love being outdoors and enjoy spending time in the forest.

I am really looking forward to working with the students at Rautāwhiri and seeing where this journey takes us all.

Kia ora, I am Whaea Lisa and I am honoured to be joining the team of wonderful teachers here at Rotorua Girls High School.

For the past five years I have taught at Rotorua Intermediate. Three of those have been teaching the Hine Kaha - girls only Year 8 class, so it is fantastic to come here and see so many familiar faces.

I live in Owhata with my husband David and we have four tamariki- Manaia, Summer, Jordyn-Kelly and Manawa.

I love to exercise, eat good kai and travel to new places. The Redwoods Forest is my happy place.

Attila Kiss

It is my pleasure to have joined this prestigious school as a Mathematics and Statistics teacher in 2021.

My name is Attila Kiss and I am originally from Hungary. I have a family of five, as we are raising three children with my wife. Currently, I commute from Tokoroa, where I have taught at both high schools over the last 15 years. This year is bringing us new and exciting challenges, as I started this new job and we are also moving to Rotorua.

I look forward to learning more about the school and the students, as well as contributing positively to the whole school community.

I am super excited to see where this year goes!

Sophie Williams

An old girl from Rotorua Girls' High  (2009), who graduated with her doctorate through the University of Auckland, Dance Studies. Her research explored notions of Māori performative knowledge within contemporary theatre contexts.

In recent years, she has performed, taught and presented her research nationally and internationally. She looks forward to returning home and sharing her passion of performance with our RGHS students.
