As we reach the end of another school year, the most important message to start with is ‘well done’ to everyone involved in the pathway towards assisting their student navigate the steps to a successful and rewarding future career goal. The Careers Department wish to acknowledge the success of all students who have achieved their NCEA goals, Awards, Scholarships and Gateway Course credits throughout the year. Rotorua Lakes Council has some amazing career opportunities available for cadets, that offer on the job study and experience with no student loan!

Council’s cadet programme offers an incredible chance to gain valuable on the job experience while undertaking fully-funded part-time tertiary study, over a three to four-year period. We have cadet opportunities available in our business support, engineering and building services teams.

Applicants must be self-motivated towards both work and study, come with an inquiring mind, a willingness to learn and a commitment towards obtaining a tertiary qualification in your preferred area of work.

Cadets will start with Rotorua Lakes Council in early 2023.

There are 3 pathways available:

Business support
Engineering
Building services

How does the Cadet programme work?

· We will give you a job for up to four years

· You will move through different areas of Council during your time with us

· We'll pay your tuition fees

· And, we'll set you on a career path for life!
