Huihui Contemporary Dance Festival

Huihui Contemporary Dance Festival is a non-competitive Festival of Dance. It is a celebration of creativity, expression and individuality in every form, aiming to inspire our next generation of dancers and provide exposure to the opportunities dance has beyond high-school.

This year our year 11 and 12 Dance Students had the privilege of attending this festival earlier this month. Our students had the opportunity to watch various schools and their dance pieces, which then inspired them to want to work towards creating their own work and bringing their mahi into this festival next year.

They also attended the dance workshops by University of Auckland Dance Studies undergraduate students, lecturer Sarah Knox and Taiaroa Royal, where they were able to learn various forms of Contemporary dance technique and wānanga around where dance can take you beyond school.

Huihui Contemporary Dance Festival was an amazing experience for our students to learn and hear about career pathways in Dance.
