UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO UPDATE

Entrance scholarships: Most entrance scholarship applications open on 1 July and will close on 15 August. The New Frontiers scholarship. This is based solely on academic results from Level 2 and Level 3 study. Students applying for Māori and/or Pacific Peoples’ scholarships will need to provide ancestry verification.

Further scholarships that your students may be eligible for can be found here: otago.ac.nz/graduate-research/scholarships/undergraduate Pathway |

Te Huarahi scholarship: The Te Huarahi Scholarship was established in 2021 to encourage students to undertake study to qualify for University admission and enable success towards undergraduate degree programmes. The standard minimum value of the scholarship is $5,000; however, it may be awarded at a higher value for exceptional students. Students who apply for an Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship (UES) may be offered a Te Huarahi Scholarship if the panel considers the applicant to fall short of the requirements for a UES but can see the student’s potential. The scholarship is rescinded if the student decides to go down an undergraduate pathway and not Te Huarahi. If they do attend Te Huarahi, they will be awarded the $5,000 scholarship and can then re-apply for an UES prior to entering an undergraduate programme.

More information on the Te Huarahi scholarship can be found here:otago.ac.nz/study/scholarships/database/ otago833449.html
