Year 13 Dean News - Janaye Biddle-Kite

Janaye Biddle Kite —

Our year 13 cohort have completed their last first term of high school.

The busy term has seen these students step up and embrace leadership and extra-curricular opportunities while balancing their academics. Peer Support - a mentoring programme that fosters relationships between the year 9 and 13 students had a positive impact on the transition to high school for our younger students. Through the six week programme our year 13 students engaged the year 9’s in numerous activities that fostered positive relationships, leadership skills and critical thinking. The year 13’s were instrumental in running a successful Peer Support Programme.

Rotary Luncheon

Our Head Girl Helena and Deputy Head Girl Hope represented our school at the annual Rotary Luncheon hosted by Rotary members at the Rotorua Golf Club.

We are proud of you both.

Our Prefects have been working hard leading activities in their prospective areas. This term has been particularly busy for our Sports and House Captains with the running of Athletics and Swimming Sports.

Our Academic Prefects have started Homework Club and our Cultural Prefects have had a busy time preparing for the Pasifika by Nation event. Our Kāhui Hauora Prefects have initiated councils within the school that focus on the student community, school wellbeing and environmental initiatives.

Our Kōhine Rautāwhiri has been working hard in the preparation of the Regional Kapa Haka Competition at the end of Term 2.

Arts Prefects and our Kōhine Whakarae have many events planned for term 2 and our Head and Deputy Head Girl have been to multiple events and are currently preparing for the Anzac Dawn Service later this month.

Although it has been an extremely busy term, this group of year 13 students have worked extremely hard alongside their teachers to ensure it was a successful one.
