Year 13 Sport Leader - Indoor Bowls Assessment.

The Year 13 Sport Leader students have been working on indoor bowls as part of their practical assessment. We have been fortunate to have Kevin and Paul from the RSA Indoor Bowls Club work with our students for the past 5 weeks. Students have gone from knowing absolutely nothing, to being able to bowl consistently within 30 or 60cm of the kitty, thanks to the coaching from our two experts who have been patient and encouraging. Three of our students have already gained Excellence in their Level 3 practical assessment. Congratulations Aaliyah Morehu, Carly Ohia and Sofia Rossi-Baker. 

Year 11 PE Surfing trip to Mt Maunganui

Our three Year 11 PE classes travelled to Mt Maunganui for a two day surf trip. On Day 1, students learned how to paddle out, catch a wave and ride it in, in preparation for the practical assessment that took place on Day 2. We also learned some water safety skills by understanding rip currents, how to spot them and also what to do if you get caught up in one. But, by far the most challenging and rewarding part of the day was learning to surf with our guides from South Pacific Surf School. This was the first time surfing for many of our students and this is why it is such a great experience. Not even the impending Cyclone Fili could put a dampener on spirits.
