Aramoana Mohi-Maxwell —

Nau mai hoki mai. Our year has started with a level of passion, enthusiasm and commitment that keeps our young women at the heart of all that we do. We are mindful of the impact of the Co-vid virus on our world and continue to grow the way we use technology, design our learning programmes and build relationships with our young women and their whānau.

Professional Learning opportunities offer a pathway that will help us use our school systems more effecvtively, provide better learning experiences with our learners so that they achieve the goals they set themselves.

Next week, we welcome Gavin McLean from Digital Circus into our school who will work with teachers throughout the year to become more digitally fluent.

We celebrate our relationships with our community and appreciate the pivotal role Ngāti Whakaue has played in helping us connect to the legacy that was started in 1959. We have had the privilege of learning about our Ngāti Whakaue connections through Professional Learning that took place at Para te Hoata (Tunohopu) at the end of last year. Our name, Rautāwhiri was gifted to us from Ngāti Whakaue and is the original name of the track that ran through the land on which Rotorua Girls’ High is sited.

It is great to be back and we are here if you need anything. NCEA is the key focus at Years 11-13 and we will do all that we can to help our young women succeed. To our whānau, thank you for your willingness to work with us and as the Deputy Principal of Year 12, please contact myself or Whaea Jaylene Tamati if you have any queries.
