Shakespeare in Schools Festival
We entered an amazing team into the SGCNZ, University of Otago, Sheila Winn Shakespeare Regional Festival. Our 15 minute scene from The Merry Wives of Windsor was set in suburbia in the 1940’s. The piece was high energy and very funny. The upbeat music and gorgeous period costumes made it an audience favourite.

Congratulations to Neve Allibone, Frances Hazeldine, Grace Hemana, Harper Tapsell, Max Tuballa, Ivy Wheeler, Alicia Sigley, Steffany Silva-Delautour and Noah Thompson.

A special mention to Keeley Carter-Conroy for winning best Under 16 Female actor and Mazvita Mapengo, for her Outstanding Performance in a Supporting Role. Heriata Rukupo helped MC a very successful day. A huge thank you to teacher helpers, Jo Vari and Kathy Gordon for their support and creativity.

Junior Dance

Our junior dance students have been engaged in movement classes that have encouraged them as creatives to think outside of the box and push their ideas to the limits. Not only are they becoming competent dancers, their knowledge of dance genres is expanding and a new found appreciation for dance as a whole is becoming more prominent. Our Y9 students are working on choreographing their own movement sequence in smaller groups with the focus on demonstrating the Elements of Dance.

The University of Auckland Dance Studies Workshop

Our year 12 and 13 Dance students had the privilege of attending a University of Auckland Dance Studies workshop alongside the senior dance class from John Paul College.

Our students learnt various performance and choreographic tools that will be beneficial for their own practice throughout the year. Our students were also able to ask questions and have conversations with the lecturers and current third year students within the Dance Studies programme, specifically in regards to various career options in Dance.

The day was full of connections, performances, conversations and DANCE! An awesome day for our year 12 and 13 Dance students.

Tutu’s on Tour - Ballet Trip to Hamilton

Our senior dance students had an educational experience in Hamilton with some members of the Royal New Zealand Ballet. Students were able to use their classroom experiences with this dance genre to better understand the performance. Our students were truly inspired by the talent that these dancers possess and gained a new found appreciation for the style overall. The benefit of this trip is that students will use this learning experience to make connections in their dance exams toward the end of the year. A wonderful experience for our senior dance students.
