RUGBY PRIZEGIVING

On Friday 6th November the RGHS Rugby whanau celebrated the end of the season with a Prizegiving. Although it was not the season that we intended there was still lots to celebrate and also a number of players to farewell. This year’s Rugby citations were awarded to our Year 13 leavers - Salaseini Kaitani, Te Aomihi Paul and Casey Flavell-Campbell. To receive a citation, a player must be in Year 13 and must have done a minimum of 4 consecutive years with rugby. We also farewelled Whetumarama Maniapoto-Heurea, Denise Ruri, Kishona Thapa-Chettri, Wairua Tapara, Trinity Nikora and Finesse Johannson and Mykaelajh Peek. All of these girls have dedicated a year or years to rugby at RGHS and we could not have had the successes over the years that we have had without them. This year we awarded two scholarships to the recipients of the Koro Mark Future Potential Awards. They were Luci Brown and Rohakino Niupalau. Both players will receive $100 towards their rugby fee’s in 2021. Koro Mark Edmonds, was the school caretaker and long time supporter or rugby and fitness trainer of athletes at RGHS until his passing in 2018. He always saw the potential in players and fostered and encouraged that talent.

Thank you to everyone who has played rugby this year, especially our coaches Jimi McLean and Staleon Takuira. Hope to see you all again in 2021
