From the Year 10 Dean - Janaye Biddle-Kite

Janaye Biddle-Kite —

The school year has started well. Again I welcome our returning students and whānau back to the school year for 2023. We have had many new students join our cohort which brings us to a total of 190 students.

There are a few key areas of interest to be noted:

  • 10 AKO & 10 ARO - Enrichment Classes
  • 10 AWHI - Accelerated Learning Class
  • 10 PONO, 10 WANA, 10 TIKA, 10 KAHA, & 10 MANA - Diligence Classes

There are four house groups:

Hinemoa - Red, Karenga - Blue, Rukuwai - Yellow, Rangiuru - Green

Please note, there has been a change to the structure of whānau classes from vertical to horizontal. This means that students in whānau classes are now with other members of their respective cohort. Their whānau teacher will remain with them to the end of Year 12. A relationship with your child's whānau teacher is important and it is advised that they are your first point of contact regarding your child. It is through this process that the information is sent out to the appropriate people who can help. Emails for all teaching staff can be accessed through the RGHS website.

A reminder of our summer (Term 1 & 4) uniform black roman sandals, white school blouse, junior skirt or shorts and Physical Education uniform.

We encourage parents and students to join our RGHS Year 10 2023 Facebook Page. It is a great way for you to receive up to date notices, important information and celebrate student achievement.

Please note we will send regular emails to you as this is our preferred method of communication. Please ensure you keep your email address up to date.

In 2023 I will continue to work alongside Wai Morrison (Head of Junior School) to ensure the pastoral needs of our Year 10 students are met.

If you need to discuss anything further, please feel free to contact me jbiddle@rghs.school.nz or please email or contact the office to arrange an appointment.

We look forward to seeing all of our students again soon.

Ngā mihi kia koutou
