VICTORIA UNIVERSITY OF WELLINGTON Hiwa Scholarship Opportunity
Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington has an awesome scholarship opportunity called HIWA coming up that they would love for you to share with eligible students and encourage them to apply. Applications are open now. The programme takes place from Tuesday 23rd August to Saturday 27th August. Applications close at 5pm, Friday 1 July. HIWA is a week-long scholarship programme providing Māori students outside of the Wellington Region with the opportunity to experience student life at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington first-hand, and explore the capital city. They will cover the costs of travel to and around Wellington and back home, accommodation, and kai. Their mahi involves helping Māori into the tertiary sector, and demystifying the place we call university. If students then choose to come study at Te Herenga Waka, that’s an awesome bonus, but they want to encourage Māori to think critically about their future and give them all the means possible to help them make decisions about what they might want to do/study after high school.
Criteria:
Be of Māori descent.
Be in your final year of study at a NZ secondary school or wharekura (outside Wellington Region), Have approval from your Principal and Dean. Have 85% attendance at school.
Be available to travel to and stay in Wellington on the given dates (23rd-27th August) for the entire programme.
Application Process:
