Year 13 Dean News

Janaye Biddle Kite —

Kia ora and welcome back to another year of learning, sisterhood, leadership and fun. For our Year 13 students this is their last, first term ever and unfortunately we started one student down. Kimalyn Smith - a beautiful soul that we know will always be with us and one we will never forget! RIP Kim! We are almost at the end of our journey here at RGHS but there is still lots to do before then. I have been lucky enough to learn alongside these girls from our earlier days in 2017 as Year 9 students, to 2021 as Year 13. Recently we have elected our Prefect Team and run Peer Support Sessions with our Year 9's. Salmond House (Y13 Common Room) loves having the girls back and the girls are looking prouder than ever! Let's make the most of this year!

Ma ngā ringa o te Atua e tiaki

Our school is still coming to terms with the loss of one of our Year 12 student who passed away at the end of 2020.

Kimalyn was a vibrant and caring young woman who demonstrated leadership in all that she did. A kind heart and inclusive nature, she constantly reached out to those who needed support and made them feel loved.

The school is currently working with Kimalyn's whanau and the wider community in preparation for the 100th Day celebration of Kimalyns life in late March - Details to come.

Peer Support Programme

Our Year 13 students have completed their first successful session as Peer Support Leaders for our Year 9 students. This programme aims to foster positive relationships between the students and develop skills that are crucial to ensuring that students transition successfully into secondary school.
