Invited by The FIFA Zambia Football Team, 50 of our aspiring RHS football athletes had their dreams of sharing the field with seasoned professionals became a reality like no other on Monday.
Rototuna High School Year 10 student, Laura Bennett, has been playing the sport since she was five and says it feels “amazing” to watch the Zambian team up close. Bennett and her friends were busy taking notes on how to improve their games. “It is my dream to play in the FIFA World Cup one day.”
Over the course of their time with the FIFA Zambia Football Team, our young stars immersed themselves in a world of relentless practice, strategic drills and tactical expertise. Under the watchful eyes of seasoned coaches, they honed their skills, refined their technique and expanded their footballing acumen in ways they never thought possible. From mastering the art of ball control to understanding the nuances of effective communication on the field, this journey was a transformative experience that will undoubtedly shape their footballing careers.
Year 13 player, Mohammad Al Zreikat, ‘had a fan moment’ when he arrived at the training and noticed one of the Zambia players from the FIFA online video game. Knowing of her incredible speed, he challenged her to a sprint race and won.
The RHS squad took away from the training opportunity that it is important to keep chasing your dreams and embracing the beautiful game that unites us all!
