Writer’s Toolbox in our Hapū Programme
This year, RJHS launched our Hapū-based literacy program supported by the educational programme, the Writer’s Toolbox. This AI-powered literacy program has been specifically designed to empower learners without taking over the creative process and provides real-time, tailored feedback to enhance their writing skills.
Cycles of learning for this programme last for two weeks; a cycle teaches either a sentence or paragraph structure. Each week, students are supported by their advisor to complete three 20 minute sessions to learn and reinforce the skill. The programme consists of both digital and paper based work. Currently, we are working in Cycle 11 of the programme - the Ing Start Sentence.
Our goal is to raise student achievement in writing across the school and prepare students for success when taking the Literacy Writing Common Assessment in Year 10. We encourage you to engage with your child about this exciting initiative. Ask them about their Writer's Toolbox experience, what they're currently learning, and even request to see their writing and feedback on the platform. Together we hope to support our students on this educational adventure and foster a school wide community of confident and skilled writers.
