EPro8 Competition

RSHS —

EPro8 is an engineering problem solving competition for teams of four students. These teams have 2½ hours to complete as many challenges as possible.

Examples are: building an electronically controlled fruit sorting machine, an elevator, a conveyor belt and rover.

Rototuna High had two teams compete in a qualifying competition at Waikato Diocesan School for Girls. The 'Retro' team of Rory Allison, Luke Quigley, Charlie Jordan and Samuel Naude qualified for the semi-final, held at Waikato University Gallagher Centre on Wednesday 7 June, where they placed third and therefore qualified for the final the following evening.

With 25 minutes to go, in the final, the team were in the lead but unfortunately they ran into technical issues with their final construction resulting in other teams moving ahead. At the final buzzer, the boys finished a creditable fourth. This was a great achievement that the boys can be proud of!
