Rototuna High Schools

KORERO FROM MIRANDA

Kia ora Rototuna e te Whānau,

Welcome back to 2023 as we start Week 3 of a new school year.

A big welcome to all of our new families and welcome back to our returning families!

We hope you and yours are all safe during the recent extreme weather events that have hit the North Island and parts of the Waikato. Our thoughts are with all those who continue to be affected by the flooding, slips and strong gales. It has certainly given us additional challenges to our start of the year.

At school, it has been great to connect with you already at whānau conferences to discuss your young person's goals and to get your student’s learning programme in place. A message I have shared with our young people already is the importance of making quality connections. These connections include connecting with themselves, with their teachers, with their learning, with each other and with their community. Research tells us that quality connections are important to support our students to be well-rounded, successful and happy learners. We are looking forward to working with you and your young person to strengthen these connections.

As you may have noticed, major building works will be continuing over this year. This does present some ongoing challenges as we continue to operate as a fully functioning school. We will keep our students up-to-date regarding what spaces they can and can’t access as building continues. We will also keep you updated on building progress through these newsletters. Other items in the newsletter include the NCEA information evening for senior high parents and other events.

I look forward to connecting with you at some of these upcoming events and having the strongest start possible with you and your student.

Until next time, stay safe

Ngā mihi,

Miranda
