Property Work and Site Disruption

Next week we are set to be handed over our new Whare.

This will provide space for around 90 learners in total throughout the day taking some pressure off our other spaces. We will have the building blessed next week before having an official opening later in the term when the exterior landscaping is closer to being finished.

In terms of other work going on, both the SHS and JHS have internal work being done on our existing buildings. The SHS has had their materials technology area refitted and a stairwell removed to create more teaching space on both levels. In the JHS we have had the Kohu stairwell removed to create more learning space also. To enable this work to take place the path outside the building has been removed for the installation of an exterior walkway to allow direct access to all first floor learning spaces and remove the need for students to traverse the entire building to get to a learning space. Later this year both the SHS and JHS will have their second stairwells removed for the same reason.

Along with the disruption to our field caused by the main big builds that are underway, these additional projects have further disrupted our ability to fully access all parts of our campus. To alleviate some of these issues we have opened the bottom floor of the JHS to make more break time space available to students and importantly ensure they can easily access toilets during break time.

We are very excited about getting these new spaces but we have a bit of disruption to cope with before all building work is completed by early 2024.
