Puna Wānanga

There have been so many exciting things happening in the Puna Wānanga space each Wednesday! Follow our instagram @rshs_pw to see the exciting content created by both staff and students.

On the 10th of May, we had our first Market Day for Puna Wānanga, where students got to showcase their hard work at crafting recyclable goods, giving staff member haircuts and raising money for their projects, all with the same end goal of making a positive impact for their chosen community.

Over the past few weeks, we have had heaps of awesome guest speakers come in to share their expert knowledge. These include digital and social media design, first aid courses, exploring theatre, scriptwriting and so much more.

Students have also engaged in planning their own EOTCs, meaning that they have taken initiative to get themselves out there to volunteer and work with their community partners. This week, students from BakeIt went to Linda Jones retirement village and the Waikato Women’s Refuge to take various food items that they had made for donation. It was really moving to see such wholesome interactions, not only from the staff who were grateful for the generosity, but also from the students who could reflect on being able to genuinely help people in need.

More to come, so watch this space!
