KORERO FROM MIRANDA

Kia ora Rototuna e te Whānau,

Greetings to you all as we start Week 2 of a new school year.

A big welcome to all of our new families and welcome back to our returning families!

It has been great to connect with you already at whānau conferences to discuss your young person's goals. We are also grateful to have been able to start the school year getting straight into learning with your young person via face-to-face instruction.

While teaching and learning in-person is our ideal, the implications of having Omicron in our community is likely to impact our ongoing ability to operate as business as usual. The Omicron variant is reported to be far more contagious than previous variants, and thankfully in most cases less severe. Details of our school’s response - if and when we get a COVID case - is included later in this newsletter.

It is the contagious nature of the virus and impact on staff and students the Ministry of Education (MoE) is asking schools to plan for. The MoE recognises that Principals and Boards will need to make decisions that work for their own schools - each with their own unique circumstances. Our teaching and learning plan for the Senior school is also outlined so that you will know what to expect.

While we are at school it is important that we make the most of our time together. Please remind your student to be at the right place at the right time, ready to learn so we can continue to support each other's learning success. On that, I want to recognise Larissa Newport’s fantastic scholarship result in Painting. Congratulations to Larissa and to Judy Chiang (Larissa’s painting teacher).

Remember…

Be kind.

Stay safe.

Stay home.

Wear a mask

Get vaccinated

We got this team!!

Ngā mihi,

Miranda
