COVID

Responding to COVID cases

Currently, if there is a suspected case of COVID in our school here is what to expect. (Please note the requirements of isolation and testing may change as the Government updates their response)

1 - CHECK

If the school receives information that a student or staff member may have COVID, the Principal will notify the Ministry of Education who in turn will work with the Ministry of Health to check (confirm or disconfirm) whether it is a positive case.

2 - CONFIRM and COMMUNICATE

If the case is confirmed to the school by the Ministry of Education (working with MoH) the school will collate a list identifying any close contacts and provide this back to the MoH.

The school will communicate with any close contacts outlining what to do which will include isolating at home and getting tested. We will communicate by emailing KAMAR letters to you and contacting families directly where possible.

The school will communicate with parents, staff and students to let them all know there is a confirmed case at school. We will communicate by emailing KAMAR letters, additional updates via Facebook and the website.

Additional communications will follow to keep you all up to date.

3 - RETURN

Once any confirmed positive cases have recovered, the person will be able to return to school.

The person will be formally contacted by the District Health Board (DHB) and given the all clear to return.

The school asks that this formal notification is passed on to the Principal who (while respecting privacy needs) can sight the formal notification prior to or on the day the person returns.
