Korero From Fraser
This has been a really long term for everyone and certainly a very unique one with four weeks of remote learning and eight weeks of everyone back at school. I want to compliment everyone, students, staff and whānau for your resilience and positive support over the last few months. I am aware that many in our community have been impacted significantly by the pandemic and continue to support us and the people around you. We are looking forward to a positive start to our semester next term and are looking forward to our changes to the timetable.
I want to publicly acknowledge and farewell our Senior High Principal, Natasha Hemara. She finishes on Friday and will leave Hamilton to return to her home town of Whangarei where she will take up the Principal role at Kamo High School. I was part of the foundation Board who appointed Natasha and have worked closely with her for the last four years. It is a unique situation for me to have a Principal colleague working so closely alongside me in my role and it has been a privilege and pleasure. I am sure you will join me in wishing her all the best in her new role and know that Kamo are lucky to have her.
Friday is also the last day for Rebecca Foster who is leaving to take up a role at Horotiu Primary. Rebecca has been with us since October 2015 as a foundation staff member and has been a leader of curriculum and hapū leader of Ngoi and Kahu Waero . She has also been the staff representative on the Board of Trustees for some time now. We will miss her and look forward to hearing how her new role goes, Horotiu is lucky to have her.
Best wishes to Caitlin O’Brien who answered an SOS this term and Haylee Moeke who is going on parental leave. We can’t wait to meet her newborn twins next term!
I look forward to seeing many of you over the next two days for our celebration of learning at I.E.M.s.
