KORERO FROM FRASER
Welcome back to Term 2, everyone. I hope you all had the opportunity to slow down a bit over the term break even if you did have to continue working yourselves.
Want to know more about what goes on here in the learning spaces? We are really keen to share what learning looks like in our place and think seeing is far better than hearing or reading about it. Over the course of the term we are offering the opportunity to come in for an information session and tour of learning spaces for existing parents and whānau. Please have a read of the article 'Learning in Action - Tours for Current Caregivers' and book your spot using the link in the article.
As is always the case, Term 2 is very busy with the start of all winter sporting codes. We have huge numbers playing in a variety of sports which is awesome to see. Please make sure you encourage attendance at practices over the course of the term and remember to head into the uniform shop to make sure all of our sportspeople are looking smart in the correct team gear. It is also important now to make sure appropriate warm uniform clothing is part of your child’s school uniform wardrobe.
There is a bit of a fad on Social Media sites such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok currently with organised and recorded fights. Do you know if watching these in your house is a ‘thing'? It would be really appreciated if you could keep tabs on this and reinforce strongly that this type of violence is not OK behaviour. As a school we will certainly respond strongly to any sort of organised violence or the encouragement of others to participate in the violence for the enjoyment of others.
On a positive note, we are looking forward to the Year 10s who missed their Wero whitewater trip, in Term 1 due to COVID lockdowns, getting the opportunity to go. These trips are happening at the end of this week and early next week.
