Korero From Miranda
Kia ora, kia kaha, kia noho whakakotahi Rototuna e te Whānau
A warm hello to all our Rototuna families, I hope that you are all keeping safe and well. It has been good to see our young people back in school and settling back into their learning. As a school we will continue to focus on supporting your young person’s wellbeing as they continue to work towards their academic goals. This is also the time of the year that many of our students are applying for tertiary courses and Kaiārahi (advisors) are working with students in their Whānau groups who will be leaving, to prepare testimonials. Alongside our business as usual, our staff and students have been participating in Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori this week.
As you will be aware there have been some calendar adjustments in Term 4 because NZQA has moved all exam dates and portfolio due dates back by two weeks from the original dates. These changes are covered in more detail later in the newsletter, along with information about our students eligibility for additional learning recognition credits.
You may also be aware of the ongoing discussions reported in the media about the timing of the term 3 school holidays. The Education Minister has made the decision today that the school holiday dates will remain unchanged, starting from Saturday 2 October. This will be a relief for those of you who have made plans over this period and will hopefully reduce any anxiety and stress for our young people that might have been related to these changes.
Finally,
Stay well.
Stay safe. Wear a mask if going out!
Stay connected,
Ngā mihi,
Miranda
