You should have received the first progress report to support student learning in Wānanga Ako. This is intended to connect and spark conversations about learning at home, and between home and school, so we can work together to support your student’s success. As already mentioned, please contact your student’s Kaiarahi if you have any questions.

NZQA has confirmed our results for 2022. Despite ongoing interruptions over the last three years we aimed to maintain high achievement levels while deepening learning opportunities for our young people. In summary overall for 2022:

We have maintained our strong gains in Level 1 literacy and numeracy.

In 2022 at Year 11 the number of students achieving literacy was 82%.
In 2022 at Year 11 the number of students achieving numeracy was 79%
Year 12 with Level 2 Certificate = 80% (Target 80%)
Year 13 with Level 2 Certificate = 95%
Year 13 with Level 3 Certificate = 70% (Target 80%)
Year 13 with University Entrance = 60% (Target 60%)

Deep learning - Merit endorsement and Excellence endorsement for Level 2 and 3 NCEA

(Endorsement requires a minimum of 50 credits at merit or higher for merit endorsement, or 50 credits at excellence for excellence endorsement)

Year 12 (Level 2) 24% @ merit 13.4% @ excellence

Year 13 (Level 3) 22% @ merit 21.4% @ excellence

As a school we will be continuing to work on growing our students' sense of belonging. We will also continue to work to provide your young person with experiences that deepen their understanding to be critical, creative and caring thinkers.

I really appreciated the opportunity to talk with students last week about caring thinking. To think caringly is important for each other, our communities and our environment. It means to be able to think ethically, appreciatively and to actively participate in society with a concern for the common good. What we care about influences how we participate, contribute and relate to others and our environment.

With this in mind I would like to extend a congratulations to Prabhleen, Charlotte and Henry for being selected for an environment leadership programme: Blake Inspire. We are excited that our young people have been chosen from the many applicants to have the opportunity to lead positive change.
