Road Safety

Transport Safety Week

The Hamilton City Council are working with us to increase active travel to and from school.

To support this, we are holding a Transport Safety week. Get involved by encouraging your child to walk, bike, scooter or bus and they can be in to win some awesome prizes. There is an $800 Torpedo7 voucher up for grabs along with other spot prizes.

Transport Safety week is running from Tuesday 7 Feb to Wednesday 8 Feb where there will be opportunities to do some route planning, bike safety as well as win some prizes for safe active travel to and from school.

Bike Safety

Hamilton City Council 'Kids on Bikes' instructors will be coming to do some bike skills with those students who want to upskill and brush up on some skills to ensure they can keep themselves safe coming to and from school. The main objective is to build confidence and skills for those students wanting to start and to encourage safer biking. Anyone who participates goes in the draw for the Torpedo7 voucher.

There will be two courses available straight after school at Korikori Park on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 Feb.

  • The Tuesday session is for beginners - this is for students who are wanting some more confidence riding or want to get started riding.
  • The Wednesday session will be for intermediate level students who already have the fundamentals and are wanting to hone their skills and build their confidence.

There is no need to register for either of these courses. Any questions please contact the school office.

Over the next few years, we will be working alongside Hamilton City Council to develop a School Travel Plan (STP). The purpose of a STP is to look at how our whole school community travels to and from school, improve safety and to increase active/sustainable transport numbers.

Keep an eye out for updates and other initiatives and events along the way.
