Board Elections

Later this year the RHS School Board Elections will be held and a number of our current Board members will be standing down after their time of service.

Have you, or somebody you know, ever thought of joining our Board? Trustees on a school board work together to make sure every child/tamariki reaches their highest possible stand in educational achievement. As part of that responsibility here are some of the things our Board do:

• Work with the principals and consult with staff, students and the community

• Set the educational goals and strategic direction of the school

• Monitor progress and let parents know how the school is progressing against its annual targets and how well students are achieving

• Decide how the school's funding will be spent

• Support the school's principals and support the development of all staff

• Oversee the management of staff, property and finances

For our Board to be the best it can be we need people around the Board table with a range of competencies and skills:

• Human Resources/Employment

• Law

• Property

• Health and Safety

• Finance

• Connection to local Hapū/Iwi

• Previous school board experience would be an advantage but not essential

Formal nominations will be called for during late June but before then we would encourage you to come and chat to either of the Principals or one of our current Board members to give you an idea of what is involved and answer any questions you may have.
